The Quiet Grower

I grow Tradescantia, Callisia and a houseful of others in the UK, and share what I've learned along the way: how to propagate them, how to tell them apart, and how to look after them honestly.

What I share

Propagation

Cuttings, rooting, potting on and the slow business of turning one plant into a shelf full. What works, and what I got wrong first.

Plant ID

Plenty of Tradescantia are sold under the wrong name. I show you the details that tell a genuine cultivar from its look-alikes.

Honest care

Care written the way growers talk: where to put the plant, how much sky it can see, and when to leave it alone.

Colour comes from light

The pinks, purples and silvers in these plants depend on how much light they get. A plant that glows on a sunny windowsill can look green and plain in a dim corner, and that's not a fault.

So I photograph the real plant, in real light, and tell you where it was sitting. No filters doing the work.

More on the way

This is a small site for now. My plant care guides are already up, and plants from my own collection will follow here when they're ready.

Until then, the growing happens on Instagram and TikTok.
